The New FamilyThis fall we drove to central Vermont to pick up eight new (pregnant) additions to our farm. We moved them into a paddock below our house for the winter and watched their bellies grow for five months! Over the last week and a half we have been fortunate to watch six of our lovely mamas give birth to ten beautiful lambs! Our ewes were nice enough to give us six girls and four boys, so we will have some ewe lambs to grow our milking flock nexst year. We hope to get the flock up to their main summer grazing ground as soon as the newest lambs are ready to go. Once the lambs are weaned after about 30 days, we will begin milking the moms and experimenting with cheesemaking, yogurt making, and all manners of enjoying the incredibly delicious and super nutritious milk that these ladies produce!
